Help us raise awareness about the lack of pet-friendly domestic violence shelters. | SUPPORT THE | PURPLE LEASH PROJECT | | | October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and with your support, the Purple Leash Project can increase the number of pet-friendly domestic violence shelters across the U.S. | | | | | 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. | | | Only 15% of domestic violence shelters in the U.S. accept pets. | | | 48% of domestic abuse victims delay leaving because they don't want to leave their pets behind. | | | We're working to change that. | | | YOU CAN HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE. | Purina has donated over $1 million to the Purple Leash Project. 25 grants have been given to domestic violence shelters to help make them more pet friendly. Grant funds could provide items such as: | | Extra-large kennels that include multiple individual insulated dog rooms, dog runs, and feed rooms | | | Heating and air conditioning for kennels | | | Veterinary costs | | | Start-up supplies like food, beds, blankets, collars, leashes, and toys. | | | Domestic violence survivors and their pets need our support now more than ever. | | | | If you or someone you love is being abused, call the Domestic Violence Hotline 24/7 at 1‑800‑799‑SAFE (7233). | | | | |
